Batteries, liquids, aerosols and other goods may need special handling or be restricted on a particular route. Ask for a product and route review before buying or sending goods to the warehouse.
What to agree before starting
Share the exact product, intended use and available manufacturer information. For battery products, distinguish loose batteries, batteries packed with equipment and batteries installed in equipment. The team will confirm which information and documents are needed; naming the category is not an acceptance approval.
Cost & confirmation
Do not assume ordinary parcel rates or packaging apply. Confirm whether the goods can be accepted, the permitted route, documentation, packaging and any additional costs in writing. Review does not guarantee acceptance.
Describe the exact battery arrangement
Applicable battery test information must be available as required. A paper test summary or safety data sheet is not a universal requirement for every parcel; the actual carrier may request relevant information.
- Manufacturer and model of the product and battery, with a product link or available specifications.
- Whether the battery travels alone, alongside the device or installed in it.
- Whether it is new, used, damaged or subject to a recall. Raise any safety concern before shipment.
Other goods also need a specific review
Tell us about liquids, powders, sprays, magnets and products needing import approval. These descriptions help start a review; “sensitive goods” is not an acceptance category or a promise of a route. Confirm the goods and route before purchasing or dispatch. Describe the contents accurately and agree any required labelling with the team.
Confirm before dispatch or return
We need the exact goods, proposed route, packing and required information before confirming acceptance. A product approved on one service is not automatically accepted on another. Batteries with safety defects or safety recalls that could cause dangerous heat, fire or short circuits must not be shipped by air. Raise the issue with the team for review of any permitted arrangement, including a return.
Questions along the way
Can a product with a battery go by air?
Possibly, depending on the exact battery, configuration, packing and carrier requirements. Share the details for review before purchasing or dispatch; acceptance is not guaranteed.
Does sea freight remove all restrictions?
No. The actual goods, route, packaging and import requirements still need review. Do not treat a change of transport mode as an approval.
